All of who you are is welcome here.
For over 170 years we have been nurturing deep roots in San Francisco, widening our welcome to all whom the church has historically excluded, and acting courageously — forming a growing community of Christian faith, finding delight in each other and in this work, becoming the church the city calls on.
Today, it means standing against Christian Nationalism, standing with the LGBTQIA+ community, and addressing racism and economic disparity.
Join us every Sunday at 10am for our worship service!

We journey in faith, together.
Every Sunday, you'll hear our Pastors bring biblical stories and themes into conversation with the issues we face in our lives today.
Inspired by the radical ministry and life of Jesus, our Calvary community takes action toward a more inclusive, equitable, peaceful, and loving world. God welcomes us as we are and then challenges us to grow deeper in love, welcome, justice, and compassion.

We love our wonderful Calvary community

Our Values
Rooted in Tradition, Open to Mystery
We believe beauty is a spiritual practice. Our liturgical heritage — the music, the ritual, the body, gathered for worship — forms us for everything else we do. And we remain open to encountering God everywhere and anywhere.
Re(Constructing) Faith
We hold space for questions, doubt, and the ongoing work of faith formation.
There is no arrival point, only the journey.
Radical Welcome
We practice all-encompassing welcome. For over 170 years Calvary has widened its circle, and we continue to do so. We joyfully affirm LGBTQIA+ people and all whom the church has historically excluded. We believe all people are made in God's image, and we seek to see Christ in each unique person in our congregation. We're radically inclusive, even of those who aren't radical.
Justice-Driven Action
Faith without action is incomplete. We show up for the marginalized, stand against systems of oppression, and put our convictions to work in the city. We also reckon honestly with the wealth and privilege in our own community — and take seriously what faith demands of us because of it.
Embodied Community
Showing up — in person, for each other, in this city — is itself a spiritual practice. Community doesn't happen automatically; we build it intentionally, one gathering at a time.
From our Pastors
Whether online or in-person, now is a wonderful time to join the Calvary community in worship and friendship. A time to pray and learn. At Calvary we hope to be a welcoming community, living the Christian faith in word and action. Whether you are young or old, a spiritual seeker or a long-time church attender–you are welcome here. Special services are held throughout the liturgical year, with notice of the services appearing here on Calvary’s website as well as in our Sunday worship bulletin. We look forward to emerging from this time of pandemic, ready to respond to God’s dreams for our congregation and our community. Please join us. You are welcome here.
