Church Beyond Sunday

Where is God calling You? For many people, being part of a faith community includes serving. Calvary offers ways to use your gifts of time and talent to make a difference in the community and around the world.


Volunteering and serving opportunities include working with Calvary’s Matthew 25 Partners for Change and other local nonprofit partners, as well as our Racial Equity Initiative and Living Sanctuary ministries. The church cultivates community partnerships where others can share their wisdom and guide our ministry.

Interfaith Food Pantry

Interested in helping alleviate hunger and food insecurity in our community? Come volunteer at the Interfaith Food Pantry located at Old First Presbyterian Church. Help organize and distribute groceries for 300 families. Note: Unless it’s raining, the whole operation takes place outside in the fresh air! Volunteer opportunity - COME SERVE OUR HUNGRY NEIGHBORS AT Martin De Porres Martin De Porres - Sat, October 31 • 9am - 3pm

Calvary has a long-standing volunteer commitment, in months that have a 5th Saturday, at Martin de Porres House of Hospitality to prepare, serve and clean up after a soup lunch for San Francisco’s hungriest citizens. Martin’s, as it is affectionately known, is a free restaurant, serving breakfast and lunch six days a week. Martin’s mission is to serve in the spirit of compassion, understanding and love. If would like to volunteer from 9am–3pm, please sign up for both shifts. Guests eat inside the dining room or outside in the courtyard. Food service gloves (provided) are required when handling and serving food. There are 2 shifts: Shift 1: 9–11:30 am (primarily food preparation); Shift 2: 11:30 am– 2:45pm (serving food, busing tables, general clean-up)

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY Write holiday cards for the Ella Baker Center’s prison mail program! Sunday, Dec. 6 11:15am - noon After Worship • Calvin Hall Calvary will participate in holiday card writing organized by the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights (EBC). The end of the year is a very hard time for community members inside prisons and jails and your words make a difference. Please join us in Calvin Hall during coffee hours to write cards that will be sent to EBC’s mailing list. Cards, stamps, other materials and instructions will be provided. All ages are welcome!
