Now through December 8
This holiday season, Calvary is again participating in the popular Family Giving Tree (FGT) gift drive. The FGT organization provides Christmas gifts for needy children and families throughout the Bay area. Last year, Calvary provided gifts for approximately 200 underprivileged children and families!
Starting in mid-November, please support this wonderful cause in one of two ways:
1. Stop by Calvary’s Family Giving Tree (the revolving lit Christmas tree) in Calvin Hall and select a wish card…or two or three. Wish cards are printed with the first name, gender, age and gift request of each recipient. Simply purchase a gift, and place it *unwrapped* under the tree in Calvin Hall for later delivery. Gift wishes range from toys, clothing, school supplies, household items, movie passes and food gift certificates.
2. Go to the Calvary Virtual Giving Tree website, identify a child, and contribute directly online using a credit card. The Virtual Giving Tree site is http://vgt.familygivingtree.org/calvarypc/
All gifts and Virtual Giving Tree contributions are due by *Sunday, December 8.* Please help someone less fortunate than you this holiday experience the joy of opening a Christmas gift!

Now through December 15
Ten beautiful, generous stockings have been handmade and will be on display in Calvin Hall after the worship service on December 1, 8, and 15. The members and friends of Calvary are asked to bring “stuffers” to fill the stockings. As you are shopping some guidelines for gifts might be helpful and include warm hats, scarves, gloves, socks, liquid bath soap (residents prefer liquid rather than bar soap), soothing body lotion, calculators (with batteries), personal planners, alarm clocks, photo frames, hair clips and accessories, cosmetic bags, clever note pads, beautiful journals, disposable cameras, small umbrellas, jewelry, gift cards for Ross, TJ Maxx, Marshalls, bookstores, Walgreens, etc. Please remember these are gifts as you would give to your sister or best friend. Members of the Support SafeHouse Mission Team will be attendance to accept your gifts and share the successful stories of the women who come to SafeHouse. After worship on December 15, you are cordially invited to help us “stuff” the stockings. It is a joyful and exhilarating experience. The Reverend Glenda Hope with be with us on December 15 directing our efforts. Come and meet her or renew your friendship.
Financial donations to SafeHouse are also welcome. The donations go to support the Tooth Fairy Fund for dental care for the residents (many have never seen a dentist), wellness programs and mental health counseling.
The goal of the Support SafeHouse Mission Team is to make a contribution to give our sisters a voice and a future. Come be a part of something special.
Now through December 18
Each year, Calvary (with help from the Deacons) adopts a number of families from Raphael House. Raphael House was the first family homeless shelter in San Francisco. Last year they provided services to 2300 individuals from 535 families. The children’s program served 200 children in the shelter and nearly 1600 kids in the after-care program.
As these families leave being homeless and begin a new life, they usually don’t have funds to provide extras for the kids, especially at Christmas. Each year Calvary Deacons shop, wrap and deliver new gifts for Raphael house children and their families – usually shoes, clothes, and toys, along with a family gift and useful gift cards.
We appreciate the congregation at Calvary’s support in this very important Mission. No gift is too small! Please stop by the Deacon table in Calvin Hall to make a donation, or simply drop a check, noted Adopt-A-Family, in the offering plate.
If you have any questions or would like to help, stop by the Deacon table or contact Calvary Raphael House chair Anna Brockway at email@example.com
