Senior Adults—Calvary members and non-members alike—are welcome every Tuesday from September to June at Calvary to enjoy lively fellowship in a convivial atmosphere. Our schedule includes speakers, performers, movies, holiday events, and field trips. Some Tuesdays we serve a hot lunch prepared at Calvary for a modest fee ($2), other days we ask that you bring a brown bag lunch from home, or pick up a sandwich from one of the delis across the street (we provide drinks and dessert). Email Marion Stanton to be included on the newsletter mailing list. firstname.lastname@example.org.
World War I and the Upending of Western Civilization
In 1914, Europe had been largely at peace for 100 years. It had been a century of rising prosperity, faith in reason and man’s ability to improve civilization, and widespread industrialization. Four years later, most of Europe, victors as well as losers, ended up collapsed and exhausted. How did this happen? What are we today to make of this war of 100 years ago? Historian Nancy Padgett will reprise the talk she offered at Calvary on November 11, 2018, the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I.
Soup and Salad Lunch ($2).
