For many years, at the beginning of December, Calvary has honored its older members and friends with a festive Christmas Tea. Seniors are invited to arrive between 12:30 and 1:15 so they can have a Christmas photo taken. They then take their seats in Calvin Hall for a small feast of delectable tea sandwiches, made fresh by a team of volunteers that morning, followed by trays of sweet treats, made and delivered by many of Calvary’s bakers. Tea is brewed in the kitchen and served by hosts from teapots on loan for the occasion. The tables are set and decorated the Friday afternoon before the Tea, and volunteers also put together party favors for the Seniors to take with them when they leave. The Young Women’s Chorus of San Francisco will provide entertainment. It makes for a lovely start to the Christmas season, for Seniors and volunteers alike!
As you can imagine, it takes a whole host of volunteers to make the Tea a success. There are jobs large and small; some can be done ahead of time and some are on the day of the Tea. There will be sign-ups for all the different tasks at Coffee Hour beginning Sunday, November 4 or click here for the online sign-up form. We hope you’ll join the Tea Team! Questions?
