The Lenten Bible studies are cancelled, with the exception that those Bible study groups that meet regularly throughout the year may choose to meet if they desire.
The season of Lent is a six-week penitential season to cultivate spiritual soil, turn over the rocks along our path, examine our lives and look ahead to the joy of Resurrection. After all, we know that Lent will end with transformation, dancing, new life and God’s generous love.
This year’s small group Bible Study focuses on joy, and our theme is: “From Mourning to Dancing.”
We will consider together the 8 Pillars of Joy as discussed by the Dalai Lama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu in The Book of Joy: Lasting Happiness in a Changing World. How might perspective, humility, humor, acceptance, forgiveness, gratitude, compassion, and generosity lead to a life of joy? How can these pillars shape us, so that we experience joy not as a fleeting emotion, but as an enduring part of our lives?
This Lent, journey with us from mourning to dancing, from pain to peace, from sorrow to joy!
Our Lenten Groups begin on Sunday, March 1st with a Kick-Off Luncheon in Calvin Hall. Whether you’re new to Bible study and small groups or whether it’s your favorite part of church, all are welcome to join us. Sign up below for a Bible Study time and location today!
