After prayerful discernment, with deep concern for the health and well-being of the Calvary community, and in compliance with the Governor’s Guidance for Gatherings, Calvary’s Sunday worship service will be online only, streamed via Facebook and YouTube with a link on Calvary’s website.
Planting Seeds in an Apocalypse
God does God’s work during apocalypses, and we are not in control of that. Remember Jesus comment in the text, ‘But about that day or hour no one knows, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Beware, keep alert; for you do not know when the time will come.’
And we have our own work to do during apocalypses too. We plant seeds, and protect life. We make art. We take naps. We cultivate sourdough starter and bake bread. We adopt dogs. We let our souls and calendars lie fallow so new life can emerge and grow. Our participation in God’s work to bring new life matters, providing a space of hope for people who only see destruction and barren land.
