This was Youth Sunday, when our young people lead us in worship. We took a moment to light candles for those whose lives were once again taken through violence and hate this week, and our youth reminded us how to be lights in the darkness.
Rev. Joann Lee lifted up our youth and how they are not only the future of the church but are the church today. Two of our youth then shared what they learned and experienced on this summer’s mission trips.
Clare Milby shared her experience on the middle school mission trip to Chiloquin, Oregon and how God calls us to compassion and love in action. Rachel Galles shared her experience on the high school mission trip and the importance of relationship in the midst of our action and work in the world.
1 Timothy 4:11-16
These are the things you must insist on and teach. Let no one despise your youth, but set the believers an example in speech and conduct, in love, in faith, in purity. Until I arrive, give attention to the public reading of scripture, to exhorting, to teaching. Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you through prophecy with the laying on of hands by the council of elders. Put these things into practice, devote yourself to them, so that all may see your progress. Pay close attention to yourself and to your teaching; continue in these things, for in doing this you will save both yourself and your hearers.
