Calvary is proud to collaborate with the SF Conservatory Chorus in a special Lenten concert featuring Estonian composer Arvo Pärt’s stunning setting of the Passion according to St. John, “Passio” for chorus, soloists, and chamber ensemble. Also on the program is David Conte’s emotional and elegant tribute to those who perished on September 11th, 2001, “September Sun,” along with two shorter masterpieces of the repertoire, Brahms’ challenging acappella motet, “Warum ist das Licht gegeben?” and his lovely “Geistliches Lied.” An immersive and emotional musical Lenten journey.
