Sunday, February 21 – Sunday, March 28
The season of Lent invites us to reflect, reassess, and renew our commitments to confession, unity, reconciliation, justice, and action.
This year’s theme is Visible Unity: A Lenten Study on The Confession of Belhar.
In our Reformed tradition, Confessions are regarded as historical Statements of Faith. The faith we confess unites us with the larger church. The Confession of Belhar, written during apartheid in South Africa and adopted by the Presbyterian Church (USA) in 2016, states that “unity must become visible.” Its main themes of unity, reconciliation, and justice acknowledge the church’s complicity in racism and racial separation. How can these words, written years ago on another continent, speak to us today in our own contexts? What might God be saying through them? Using excerpts from the book Lenten Reflections on the Confession of Belhar edited by Kerri Allen and Donald McKim, we invited you to journey with us this Lent through this rich document that calls the church toward holy action, transformation, and life.
Our Lenten Groups begin on Sunday, February 21 with a Kick-Off Live Zoom.
