"The Drama at Calvary" is a fellowship where both
the beginning and experienced actor may explore the
process of acting without the pressure or time
commitment required for a full production of a play.
Participants in our workshops have worked on scenes from the world's drama by such diverse playwrights as
William Shakespeare, T.S. Eliot, Paul Osborn, August Wilson, Terrence McNally, and Harry Kondoleon. In March 2007, we presented a staged reading of Romulus Linney's The Love Suicide at Schofield Barracks.
Newcomers are invited to practice the craft of acting at his/her own pace with a monologue. More experienced actors are encouraged to join in the scene work.

Workshops are led by Val Hendrickson, whose Bay Area acting credits include stints with Berkeley Rep, TheatreWorks, Magic Theatre, Willows Theatre, Shotgun Players, Theatre Valentine, and Willows Theatre. As a director he has staged productions on both coasts, winning a Villager Downtown Theatre Award for Sam Shepard's Action and a Dean Goodman Choice Award for Campo Santo's world premiere of Denis Johnson's Hellhound On My Trail, as well as Best of the SF Fringe Festival in two different centuries.
