Baptisms |
|
Calvary's practice of baptism is governed by the
Book of Order of the Presbyterian Church. The
Book of Order is part of our constitution.
There is no requirement for
a parent or one exercising parental authority to
be a member of a Presbyterian Church. Pastors at Calvary may
baptize infants or children of people who may be
active in another Christian congregation.
The
basic requirement is for at least one parent or
one person exercising parental responsibility to
be an active member of some Christian
congregation. This is because any baptism, for
an infant or an adult, is simply a beginning: By
Baptism we are welcomed by God into God's
Church. We then need the encouragement and
teaching of parents and others to grow into the
faith.
If there are questions about this policy
or how it works at Calvary, it is always best to
call one of our Pastors.
Pre-Baptism Seminars
Those seeking to be baptized or to have their
children baptized at Calvary must attend a brief pre-baptism seminar to learn about baptism theology and
practice in the Presbyterian Church, and to
learn what to expect on the Sunday morning of
